Wells in Bloom Awards
I have just returned from the Wells in Bloom School Award Ceremony with good news...
I was presented with a special trophy in recognition of our efforts to combine gardening with learning. The judges were impressed not only with our main school garden, but also with our entry in the wheelbarrow garden category, where Year 6 completed a mini-project about those from Wells who died in WWII and used the work from that to make their garden. Although the poppies, which we grew from seed, have not flowered yet, the garden looks lovely! You can see it over the summer, hopefully with some flowers, in the courtyard of the Bishop's Palace. It was lovely to receive this award on behalf of the children, as we are very proud of the way that learning outside the classroom is integrated into the Wookey curriculum.
